Attraction Marketing has been around for awhile now, but is the latest craze in the network marketing/MLM industry. However, it flies in the face of a lot of the “old-school” or traditional marketers, who tend to put more stock into the hard work of pursuing prospects instead of the other way around. Attraction Marketing is all about positioning yourself to have prospects come after you, as Mike Dillard would say, “with credit card in hand, ready to buy”. But before we jump into Attraction Marketing, lets look at where we came from.

We are all aware of what Seth Godin calls “Interruption Marketing”. We are confronted with it all day everyday, pretty much everywhere we go. We are interrupted by commercials on television or on the radio, when trying to enjoy our favorite programs. You get on a city bus, and there are generally advertisements alongside the outside of the bus, as well as all througout the interior. You’re pitched products in the urinals of public restrooms, along the sides of building, on your grocery carts, public benches, airports, everywhere you go there are advertisements of some sort clamoring for our attention. If we didn’t learn to block most of it out, we’d go crazy from all of the sensory input.

Mike Dillard Magnetic Sponsoring Review

Thanks for checking out my review of Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring course. I hope to give you a good insight into what the course is about. I know the course has been out for a couple of years now, and that I’m kind of late to the party, but I just re-read it again for about the fifth time the other day and continue glean nuggets of marketing wisdom from it.

That being said, you’ve probably guessed that I’m a fan. And you would be right. I have dabbled in network marketing/MLM for a good part of the last 20 years and reading Magnetic Sponsoring literally changed my life by changing the way I looked at this industry and went about marketing. I was a strong adherent of the traditional marketing philosophy, you know make a list of everyone you know, or tell everyone who comes within 3 feet of you about your business, buy leads and spend hours on the phone cold calling these leads to pitch them the business, etc. Basically chasing people till everyone I know headed the other way if they saw
me coming or were always just a tad too busy to take my calls.

Now for much of the last few years, I kind of pooh-poohed any ads I saw for these gurus who would teach me how to market. I mean, “hey, I was doing this before there was an internet and while this guru was still in grade school!” But when I saw Mike Dillard’s ad about having the prospects chase me, credit card in hand, instead of me chasing them. Well that got my attention. Because I was truly tired of chasing, and even more tired of rejection. To make a long story short, I decided to take the plunge and plunked down $39 for the book.

Today I consider that $39 probably the best investment I’ve ever made. Magnetic Sponsoring introduced me to Attraction Marketing, which began to teach me how to position myself to attract people who are looking for what I have to offer. Mike Dillard also introduced me to the concept of the self-funded proposal, which would heretofore fund my advertising efforts. Most importantly, Magnetic Sponsoring taught me to market myself, as opposed to any company or product. This course taught me how to position and present myself as an expert, as a person of value, a person who could help solve the problems of others.

Like any other book or course, Magnetic Sponsoring will not work if you don’t work it. This course is not a silver bullet. If it’s to be, it’s still up to me (or you). The book is less than 100 pages, so Dillard does not go into a ton of detail about any of the concepts that he teaches here, but then he does not present this book as the be-all end-all tome of marketing wisdom. He also doesn’t mince words. There is no fluff here. There is plenty enough here though to start you down the right path. And if you stay the course, implement what you learn and build on it, you will likely join the ranks of the 3% that actually succeed in the network marketing industry.

By outsourcing these and other lead generation activities, your time can be freed up to deal directly with qualified prospects who find and contact you instead of the other way around.

So instead of spending precious time looking for prospective customers, you can spend your time with the people who are looking for you. But the focus of this article will be on online methods and strategies. The goal of both strategies are the same, to create leverage so that your marketing system is working 24/7, whether you are or not.

Nowadays it just makes perfect sense to leverage the power of the internet to expose your product or service to the masses. But thanks to spam filters, pop-up blockers, and manual screening processes, getting your message to your target audience can be difficult at times. Your autoresponder can also offer to solve a problem your prospect is having or address a need by way of an inexpensive product or training. This is an excellent way to progressively build more trust and create cash flow to fund your business.

This way of creating cash flow is also known as a funded proposal. You can then use these funds to pay for your tools, systems, and more marketing and advertising. The products are usually affiliate programs, where you have an affiliate relationship with the product vendor. The commissions on the sale of these affiliate programs are usually between 20% and 50%. Some attraction marketing systems come with a ready package of affiliate programs all related to the niche at hand. This situation will produce multiple streams of income for you, over and above what you make with your primary opportunity.
Indeed, since most prospects will never join your primary opportunity anyway, this a way you can get money from these people even if they say no to your opportunity.

But if they appreciate the value and training you are providing them, and they are satisfied with the affiliate programs that you recommend to handle their problems, then recruiting them into your primary opportunity is now a whole lot easier. Because by this time, you have a relationship. They see you as an authority figure or an expert in the niche. Your advice is trusted. So when you suggest that they follow you or work directly with you, they will be much more likely to do so. There is also a good possibly that they will refer their friends and acquaintances to you as well.

An automated attraction marketing system will do all of these things for you automatically, leaving you free to focus on other things. Like talking to people who have already expressed an interest in your product or opportunity. That’s a lot better than trying to convince complete strangers that they need what you have to offer, whether they need it or not.
